Hello Im new to this forum but there has been something that has been getting on my tits and I wanted to share and discuss with my fellow Jacks. and that is:
Is the constant praise that Cardiff seem to be getting Justified? And are we having a poor start like some may suggest.
To do this I decided to look at all the match statistics so far focusing on:
Total shots made, shots made on target, shots taken by opposition, shots on target by opposition and possession average to determine the performance of each team. And have come up with a performance score based on the total.
Results
Cardiff: Possession Av 46.13% Opposition 53.88% [Score -7.75]
Swansea: Possession Av 56.75% Opposition 43.25% [Score +13.5]
Cardiff: Total shots 84, opposition shots 143 [Score -59]
Swansea: Total shots 109, opposition shots 93 [score +16]
Cardiff: Shots on target 19, opposition 51 [Score -32]
Swansea: Shots on target 46, opposition 28 [score +18]
Cardiff: Goals scored 8, Conceded 15 [score -7]
Swansea: Goals scored 12, conceded 11 [score +1]
Total Points:
Cardiff: -105.75
Swansea: +48.50
Ok there may be other variables that could be argued, but looking at the statistical facts I will say Cardiff are being massively overrated and have been riding on luck a bit and statistically we seem to be preforming very well and just need a little more luck on our side.
Also I also would like to point out that the statistics can quiet our critics who say our style is boring and that we tend to keep pointless possession!!!!!! |  | | |  |

to be honest I haven't heard them getting much praise myself, it seems like hull have had that and the focus has been on how poor palace have been. Anyway interesting to see some of those stats and just proves that we are the better team right now in a number of aspects. |  |

Yeah Tom but sometimes (like the last season the two sides played each other in the NPC) the away sides use the atmosphere to their advantage. It will be an interesting game that's for sure. | |

The stadium will be a cauldron that day. No matter how experienced you are its not a nice place to be as an opposition player (ask the Man city players). You will have a lot of the ball that's to be expected but it depends how Cardiff set up and whether you score early ETC. Its absolutely impossible to predict the result in a derby game though just hope we get the right one!! | | | |

One thing I've been worried about is set pieces but we've definitely improved in that area this season.
Sunderland didn't get a look in from theirs on the weekend, and we scored from 2 (3 if you include the penalty winning move) of ours. That certainly doesn't happen very often. | | | |

We only know one way which is possession, Cardiff will not of come up against a team like us yet at home, who will keep the ball for fun. There fans will need to be very patient despite it being a derby. If the players start chasing balls coz that what the fans want, we will pick them off. Only take one player to lose his head and press when nobody else presses and the space will be there. If they stick to their park the bus ga,e plan then we could be in for a bore 0-0 (which i would take right now if im honest) |  |

The first goal up there is massive. We get it they have to come and chase the game leaving us with space to exploit. They get it and the number 23 to Ely will be parked firmly in the 6 yard box for the rest of the game.

I'm referring to games last season too you dullard. Beating Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea away. Ya know, winning a major trophy as a result..
The fact is, we don't play for possessions sake anymore. If anything I think a lot of Swans fans would like to do that a little more, but for now it's pretty much all attacking through the middle.
If you come at us, it's highly likely we'll pass the ball into the net. Your best bet is parking the bus (you're good at that) and hoping to take one of your few chances from a set piece. | | | |
